Submitting Software Project Suggestions

Many Clarkson students do software projects for course credit each semester - whether for a regular course, for a directed study, for their software engineering portfolio, etc. For the student, there are many benefits of choosing to produce a real product for a user including:

- the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of their labor used after the course completes
- the knowledge that the skills they have learned in school have really enabled them to solve real problems
- experience with gathering requirements from a user
- experience with testing their product in a working environment

Of course there are many benefits to the "customer" not least of which include a team of software engineers at their disposal and the knowledge that they are giving Clarkson students valuable real world experience.

To facilitate matching interested customers with student teams, we allow faculty, staff and members of the local community to post ideas for software projects on this web site.

If you post a suggestion, interested students may contact you for more information. At that time, if you are willing to be a "customer", we ask you to commit to the meeting with the student to answer questions, review prototypes and when the final product is delivered to write a review of your experience.

If you would like to post a suggestion, please send mail to jnm@clarkson.edu.
