Transport, Deposition, and Removal of Charged Nano-Particles

The main objective of this project is to provide the needed fundamental understanding of the mechanisms that control transport, dispersion, deposition and removal of charged rough nano- and micro-particles in (the size range of 5 nm to 20 mm) in the presence of an electric field in laminar and turbulent flows. The other main objective is to develop a computational model for predicting the removal, transport, dispersion, and deposition of charged nano-particles in the presence of electric fields in complex passages of practical industrial interest (including those in pharmaceutical and microelectronic applications and in the xerographic electrophotographic machines). The completion of the project will provide a knowledge base and computational modeling tools for analyzing transport, dispersion, deposition and removal of charged nano- and micro-particles in a variety of industrial applications.
