Stephen Andrew Carter is a graduate student in the mathematics department at Clarkson University pursuing his PhD in applied mathematics. He is currently working under the advisement of Takashi Nishikawa.

Research Interests

  • Study of dynamics of complex networks, synchronization of networks of chaotic systems. Specifically, we have studied how the properties of scale free networks impact synchronization of the networks.
  • Study of the connectivity of small world networks, specifically of one and two dimensional lattices. Recent research has been made to improve upon the asymptotic behavior of the Kleinberg Model.
  • Personal research interests include computational mathematics involving inverse problems, algorithm improvement, numerical solutions, and simulation data collection.

Talks and Presentations

  • Differential Inequalities and Maximum Principles, Presented at 2009 NCSU Research Symposium on Modeling and Industrial Applied Mathematics, Raleigh, NC, July 2009
  • Asymptotic Behavior of the Kleinberg Model, Presented at Clarkson University's 2008 SURE Symposium, Potsdam, NY, July 2008
