New Student Orientation Schedule Spring 2008

Parents and families are welcome to attend Friday's activities.

Please check this page often. While the dates will not change, some event times and locations may change. More information from specific offices and departments will also be added as it is received. Watch for a pre-orientation checklist detailing what you will need to do before orientation.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.
FIRST STOP (If not taking the placement test) Go to Student Administrative Services Center (SAS) to complete your check-in card. Student employment forms are available in SAS and will need to be completed if you plan on working. If you are not cleared, a SAS student representative will help you with your financial concerns…SAS Center, Cubley-Reynolds Center Core Complex

8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT STOP
All new international students arriving on campus must ‘check—in’ with the International Students & Scholars Office to ‘activate’ their international records in SEVIS.  Please proceed to the ISSO, 229 Price Hall (use the Thomas entrance) and follow the signs.  Please be sure to bring your I-20, visa, passport and I-94.

9 – 11:30 a.m.
ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST FOR STUDENTS FOR WHOM ENGLISH IS A SECOND LANGUAGE (exchange students are exempt)…Bertrand Snell Hall 214.

NOTE: Computer passwords and Clarkson e-mail accounts are set up for all new students. This information will be sent to the home address by mid-December. Students admitted after mid-December will pick up this information at the Office of Information Technology, 2nd floor, Educational Resources Center.

9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
SECOND STOP
Here you will receive your room/apartment key, Clarkson ID card, car registration forms, meal validation, and mail box key...Cheel Campus Center, lower level, 1st and 2nd floors, watch for signs

4 - 5:30 p.m.
TRANSITIONING AS A TRANSFER, 1st YEAR, INTERNATIONAL, OR EXCHANGE STUDENT (Pizza Dinner to follow) University staff, representatives of the Student Senate, current transfer students and international students will welcome you to Clarkson. Find out how to make a smooth academic and social transition. Join us for pizza after the talk. All family members are welcome to attend the meeting and dinner…Barben B, Cheel Campus Center

· For those students who missed Tuesday registration or need to add or drop courses…SAS, Cubley -Reynolds Complex

· You can still get your room key, ID card, and car registration forms …Campus Safety & Security Office, 203 Cheel Campus Center

· Contact the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at 268-2395 for advanced placement information for MA 131(Calculus) or CS 141 (Introduction to Computer Science)

· Meal Plan Validation…lower level, ARAMARK Office…Cheel Campus Center

· Mail Box Key…1st floor, Mailroom, Cheel Campus Center

· Don’t forget to buy your books at The University Bookstore, downtown, Market Street
