Accommodative Services

Reasonable Accommodations

A reasonable accommodation is a modification or adjustment to a course, program, or activity that enables a qualified student with a disability to have an equal opportunity to participate. Institutions are obligated to make reasonable accommodations only for known limitations of an otherwise qualified individual.

Accommodations are unreasonable when they fundamentally alter the nature of the program, compromise the essential elements of the course, cause an undue financial or administrative burden or endanger the safety of self and others.
