Theme Housing
There’s A Theme Here
Sometimes the best way to enhance a collaborative learning environment is to create a collaborative living environment. That’s the idea behind what we call “theme housing” for students after their first year at Clarkson. How does it work? Simple. You and other students with a common interest choose to live together so you get more opportunities to interact.
For example, groups who have opted for a residence theme floor or wing this year include: the Men’s Nordic Ski Team; Women’s Outing Club; Men’s Outing Club; Integrator staffers; Air Force ROTC; and MSU (Multicultural Students Union), a diversity group. Past themed living areas have included Habitat for Humanity and the Environmental Programs House.
An academic theme floor is Venture@Moorehouse, in which sophomore business majors spend a year living together while they create and launch an entrepreneurial enterprise.
Around campus, students may also vote to have “substance-free” floors in which residents, including those over 21, agree not to use or disturb the environment with alcohol, drugs, or tobacco.
