Student Government
Politics and the Art of the Possible
Looking for some firsthand experience
in politics? Consider getting involved in student government at Clarkson as a
member of the Student Senate. You face real decisions, real emotions and you're
dealing with real money. And you'll
be doing your fellow students and your school a real service. But first of
all, you have to get elected. Which means you have to attract some real votes.
The CUSA Senate is the governing body of all clubs and organizations on campus. It is responsible for allocating the $105 activity fee you pay each semester to sponsored clubs and organizations. The Senate's Executive Board includes a President, Vice President, Comptroller, Public Affairs Director, Treasurer, and Secretary. There are also six Senators from each class, and a Clarkson School Representative.
As formal representatives of the student body, CUSA Senators are responsible for working together with the Clarkson administration on all decisions that affect the student body. These decisions are made in Senate meetings or in one of the Senate's seven committees, which are open to any students.
Serving on the CUSA Senate will give you a chance to develop your professional skills in communication, collaboration, and negotiation, in addition to performing useful work for your campus community.
