Since 1987, over 60% of solicited Clarkson alumni have contributed
to Clarkson at least one time. While this is a tremendous
figure, many of our alumni do not choose to contribute to
Clarkson every year, for whatever reason. In recent years,
alumni participation rates have hovered around 30% of all
Clarkson alumni making a gift.
That’s our challenge. Alumni giving participation figures
are significant for many reasons, including the fact that
they’re used in the methodology to determine annual
rankings by widely-read guidebooks like Barrons and U.S.
News and World Report Best Colleges. To move up in
the rankings, and thus attract more students of promise, we
must increase our alumni participation rate.
Here are some charts reflecting recent alumni giving trends
and comparing Clarkson alumni giving to our competitor universities.
Your gift, at any level, will collectively help turn the trends
to an upward direction.

In 2006-07, the percentage of solicited alumni who donated to Clarkson was 24.6%.

In 2006-07, Clarkson alumni gave $2.68 million, or an average of $417 per alumni donor, which is down from the average gift of $448 in 2005-06.
