Overview
All incoming first-year students have, in addition to their
faculty advisor, access to a "first-year" advisor
who works with them toward making satisfactory academic progress
and personal adjustment, as well as monitoring and identifying
any other problems they may be experiencing as early as possible.
The type of concerns or problems that typically arise during
the first year might consist of stress due to classes, roommate,
change of environment, academic uncertainty, etc.
The First-Year Advising Center works closely not only with
all academic departments on campus, but also with the entire
staff of the Student and Community Affairs Division, which
consists of Residence Life, Campus Safety, Accommodative Services,
First-Year Seminar, Tutoring Services, Greek Life, Student
Development, Counseling and the Career Center.
The Center acts as a facilitator for first-year students
who might not know where to go for assistance. Students should
feel free to stop by the First-Year Advising Center in Price
Hall Room 100 or call the center at 268-3948.
