REUNION 2007 – THANKS TO ALL!
We are still checking registrations; however, it appears that there were 500 alumni that returned this past weekend to celebrate reunion years and affinity group milestones! The Alumni Office would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for joining us and based on your feedback, once again it was a tremendous success! We were pleased to welcome so many alumni, friends and family back to campus and already look forward to reunion 2008 (July 10-13). Special congratulations to the Class of 1957 on their induction into the Golden Years Club and to Syd Richards who was made an honorary alumna! Great job by the brothers of Delta Upsilon, Theta Xi, and the sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma on successful anniversary celebrations. Thanks to the returning alumni from the Pipeline program and all of the class year reunion participants for making the weekend a success! And especially to Elisabeth Cain, assistant director of Alumni Relations, for pulling together yet another amazing program!

CLARKSON UNIVERSITY OFFERS UNIQUE SUMMER PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN JULY
The Young Scholars Program (YSP), a unique summer experience for talented high school students, will once again be offered by Clarkson University. The weeklong program for rising juniors and seniors, held on Clarkson's campus from July 22 to July 28, is still accepting applications. You can find the application online at http://www.clarkson.edu/youngscholars. YSP is a selective program with a unique approach. Consistent with Clarkson's overall mission of interdisciplinary education and spanning boundaries, students are given a problem to examine and solve from three different perspectives: engineering, business and ethics. This year, the summer scholars will approach, research and generate solutions to form "Small Is Beautiful New Home Design," a fictional housing design firm dedicated to providing creative small home designs for a variety of markets in an effort to save energy and worldwide resources.

IN WOOD’S WORDS: DR. BAYARD DELAFIELD CLARKSON
This month’s piece from Jim Wood ’64 is entitled, Dr. Bayard Delafield Clarkson. If you missed any of Jim’s previous pieces, you can read them all on the Clarkson Alumni Web page at http://clarksonalumni.com/stay_connected/woods_words.html.
$2 MILLION AND COUNTING …
For the first time ever, Clarkson Fund contributions (unrestricted gifts only) topped $2 million thanks to the generosity of 6,200 alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, and organizations. This was an increase of 9.2% over last year. Since 2003, gifts to the Clarkson Fund have increased 66.5% - an unprecedented rate of growth compared to our peers. But while contributions have grown significantly, the number of donors has remained relatively consistent over this time period ranging between 5,800 and 6,200, with fewer alumni making contributions. This has driven our alumni participation rate down to just over 18% for the Clarkson Fund and 21% overall. Clarkson graduates demonstrate their passion for Clarkson – at career fairs, college fairs, in arenas all over the ECAC, and at alumni events throughout the country and the world. Yet less than 1 in 4 graduates are supporting Clarkson financially. This just does not add up. Clarkson’s Strategic Investment Fund, The Clarkson Fund (The Fund), provides support for “people and programs” across the campus community by bridging the gap between what tuition dollars provide and the University’s total operating budget. In 2006, donations to The Fund helped fund the construction of the Concrete Café and Applied Computing Labs in the Science Center. Additionally, The Fund aided in the development of new, innovative courses and research programs in the emerging areas of nanotechnology, biomolecular engineering and green engineering, and enhanced Clarkson’s IT infrastructure. For those of you who made a donation to last year’s campaign THANK YOU! For those of you who pledged this past year, (remember, Clarkson’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30), please fulfill your pledge by August 31, 2007, and be included in the 2006-2007 Annual Report. Please visit our secure online giving site to make your gift to Clarkson. Engage. Inspire. Stay Connected!

Donna (Mirsky) Bennett ’90 is excited about the release and success of her new Salsacise! Made Simple exercise program on DVD. According to Donna “most of the salsa dance exercise DVD’s on the market were intimidating in that they were multiple instructors with fast moving dances that were hard to follow.” So, Donna made it easy for the average person with no dance experience to learn after just one class. You can find more information at www.exerciseisfun.com and www.amazon.com.
