small town living and the boundless opportunities to explore nature and
summer at its best. Drives in St. Lawrence County offer a marvelous spectrum
of experiences: Amish Farms and roadside stands, Singer Castle, boat tours
along the St. Lawrence River, white water kayaking and canoeing, and unique
festivals and home town celebrations.
Day trips add a perfect mix to a vacation, providing something for everyone. Typically, destinations are about an hour and a half to two hours away, either into the heart of the Adirondacks or to the heart of two of Canada's major cities, Montreal and Ottawa. Canada also boasts of many small historic towns in Ontario that celebrate their English, Scottish and Irish ancestry. Quebec is dotted with French-Canadian culture offering driving tours of wine and cheese producing areas.

— Canada's capital city is only an hour and half drive away from Potsdam.
The city reflects the elegance of British allegiance and the pioneer spirit
of Canada. Situated on the Ottawa River, across from the Quebec city of
Hull, Ottawa is home to the nation's museums, government buildings, and
urban shopping. Visit Parliament, the Peace Tower, the world famous By-Ward
Market, and the Canadian Art Museum. Drive along Embassy Row, skirting the
Ottawa River, or take a boat cruise up the Rideau River into the heart of
Ottawa. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Mounties) have their home located
in Ottawa next to the Air and Space Museum. A wonderful day's excursion
from Potsdam to the historic center of the Canadian capital awaits you.
