2005
The Washington D.C. Chapter's Kick-Off
Event!
The Washington D.C. Chapter held its first official event on Saturday,
December 3rd at a Capitals game. Nearly 70 alumni, family, and friends
gathered together at Drinx Restaurant for a pre-game dinner. Capitals
Right Wing, Chris Clark '98, and Craig Laughlin '80, the color analyst
for the Capitals telecasts, stopped by the event for a meet and greet
session. The Capitals easily defeated the NY Rangers 5 to 1.

November 2005
Clarkson hockey event in New Haven,
CT
The Golden Knights men's hockey team battled the Yale Bulldogs at Ingall's
rink on Saturday, November 12th. Over 60 alums gathered for a pre-game party
at Toad's Place to get into the spirit. After catching up with area alumni
and eating pizza and wings, the pre-gamers joined an additional 100 alumni
at the arena. Fans left happy, as the Knights defeated the Bulldogs
4-2.

Clarkson visits North Carolina for a
hockey and football game!
On
November 12th, President Tony Collins and his wife, Karen, along with several
members of Clarkson's staff, traveled to Raleigh to meet with alums and
to watch Clarkson's own, Erik Cole, at a Hurricane's game. Erik was nice
enough to drop by our pre-game dinner event to say hello and sign some autographs.
The next day, President Collins and the Clarkson crew traveled to Charlotte
to visit alums at a Panther's tailgate party and football game.

Leadership Receptions for Prospective Students
and Alumni
Members
of the admissions staff, alumni office, and faculty traveled to different
cities around the Northeast to host the annual leadership dinners. These
receptions honor high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership
at their school and within their community. They are nominated by their
guidance counselor. Also invited to these receptions were area alumni. Alums
were able to enjoy a presentation about what life is like at Clarkson now,
as well provide these prospective students an opportunity to ask questions.

9/11 Memorial Dedication Ceremony
On
Friday, October 14th, Clarkson dedicated the new 9/11 Memorial to the four
alumni who perished in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York
City on September 11, 2001. Members of the family of Peter A. Klein '87,
Paul R. Hughes '85, Richard J. O'Connor '75, and R. Mark Rasweiler '70 attended
the Alumni Council dinner reception on Friday evening and joined President
Collins, Tim LaLonde, President of the Alumni Association and Ryan Joy,
President of the Clarkson Student Association at the memorial dedication
later that night. After the remarks by the three presidents, Tim Thomas
'84 sang God Bless America as candles were lit and those who attended the
ceremonies softly sang along while the structure was highlighted against
the dark sky. The ceremony ended with the sound of a military bugle playing
the eloquent and haunting melody of Taps in the distance.

Buffalo Chapter Hockey Event
at Niagara University
Buffalo
area alumni rallied together to show their support for the Men's Golden
Knights hockey team on Saturday, October 8th at Niagara University. Clarkson
put on quite a show for their fans, defeating the Purple Eagles 5 to 3.
Over 60 Clarkson alums, families, and friends enjoyed a pre-game tailgate
party and a post-game meet and greet with this year's men's hockey team
and coaching staff.

Admission's Receptions
for Prospective Students and Alumni
During
the last week in September, members of the admissions staff, alumni office,
and faculty traveled to eight different cities around the Northeast to meet
with prospective students. Also invited to these receptions were area alumni.
Alums were able to enjoy a presentation about what life is like at Clarkson
now, as well provide prospective students an opportunity to ask questions.

NYC's Welcome to the City Celebration
The
newly formed New York City Chapter hosted their first event on Wednesday,
September 28th. Over thirty alums, family, and friends gathered at the trendy
bar, Windfall, to welcome recent Clarkson graduates to the city. A good
time was had by all!

Chicago Brunch and Baseball
President
Tony and Karen Collins took a trip to the windy city to visit with alums
on August 19th and 20th. During their travels they were able to meet with
alums at Ann Sather's Restaurant for brunch, as well as catch a White Sox
game at US Cellular Field.

Valley Cats Baseball Game
Capital
District alums enjoyed an evening of Valley Cats Baseball on Sunday, August
21st. The Valley Cat's mascot even dropped in to the Clarkson box for a
meet and greet!

North Country Boat Cruise
The
North Country Chapter of the Alumni Association gathered together on August
23rd for a dinner cruise with President Tony and Karen Collins along the
St. Lawrence River. Alums were able to enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by
local chef, Chris Fay. The night also featured the presentation of the Stub
Baker '27 Chapter Service Citation to Bob Burns '59.

Clarkson's Annual Day at the
Races!
Over
200 alumni, guests and friends gathered at the Saratoga Race Track on Friday,
August 5 to enjoy a Day at the Races! This year we were fortunate enough
to get a pavilion rail side of the track! Alums, family, and friends were
able to enjoy an incredible view. The pictures below capture the excitement
and portray the good time that was had by all!

Send-Off Picnics Around the Northeast
Each
August the Alumni Office organizes Freshman “Send-Off” Picnics
for students headed to campus for the fall semester from regional areas.
The 2005 picnics consisted of 13 sites: Rochester, Mohawk Valley, Buffalo,
Syracuse, Capital District, Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, Boston, Manchester
(NH), Long Island, Burlington (VT) and the North Country.

President
Tony Collins and his wife Karen visited a handful of Alumni and guests in
Florida in April. There were events organized in Boca Raton, Orlando and
Tampa.

Tony and Karen Collins Visit the
West Coast!
President
Tony Collins and his wife Karen visited three cities in California for alumni
events in late March. On Monday, March 28 alumni gathered at a Golden State
Warriors Game and visited at two receptions on the following evenings in
San Jose and Long Beach.

First Round ECAC Men's Hockey Play-offs!
The
Golden Knights defeated Union College during the first round of play-off
hockey by upsetting ninth-seeded Union in a best-of-three series. All three
games went into overtime, which was a first for ECAC play-offs. Alumni gathered
prior to Saturday's game to get excited for the game.

Last Home Hockey Game of 2005- Cornell
vs. Clarkson!
On
Saturday, February 26, 2005 several alumni gatherings took place in conjunction
with the Cornell vs. Clarkson hockey game! A bus full of Clarkson Alumni
& Parents traveled to Cheel arena to catch the final home game against
Cornell University and a group of Delta Upsilon brothers gathered to reconnect.

Saturday, February 12, 2005 Clarkson University President Tony Collins had
lunch and enjoyed a 76er's basketball game with several local alumni in
the Philadelphia area.

17th Annual Hockey Telecast
- Clarkson vs. Cornell
On Friday, January 28, 2005 alumni gathered at many locations across the
United States to watch the Clarkson Golden Knights face-off against the
Cornell Big Red. Hundreds of alumni were able to watch the game on CSTV
with fellow alumni and friends.

Clarkson Grad making a difference
in Iraq
1LT
Jason Lasher ('03) is currently deployed to Iraq as a Platoon Leader with
the 89th Transportation Company from Fort Eustis, VA. 1LT Lasher has the
extremely dangerous job of commanding convoys to haul vital supplies to
places such as Balad, Baghdad, Fallujah, Karbala, Najaf, Ramadi, and Tikrit.

Associate

at a pre-game event and night out for a minor league hockey game on Saturday,
