9/11 Memorial Dedication Ceremony
On Friday, October 14th, Clarkson dedicated the new 9/11 Memorial to the four alumni who perished in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. Members of the family of Peter A. Klein '87, Paul R. Hughes '85, Richard J. O'Connor '75, and R. Mark Rasweiler '70 attended the Alumni Council dinner reception on Friday evening and joined President Collins, Tim LaLonde, President of the Alumni Association and Ryan Joy, President of the Clarkson Student Association at the memorial dedication later that night. After the remarks by the three presidents, Tim Thomas '84 sang God Bless America as candles were lit and those who attended the ceremonies softly sang along while the structure was highlighted against the dark sky. The ceremony ended with the sound of a military bugle playing the eloquent and haunting melody of Taps in the distance.
